1. Darkthrone have had a strange career. Their debut cd release on Peaceville Soulside Journey was one of the greatest releases in the initial wave of death metal in the late 80's-early 90's. It was special because, although owing much to the Swedish-Entombed metal sound (since it was recorded at Sunlight Studio in Stockholm under producer Tomas Skogsberg), they brought an almost prog-rock.

4. “Soulside Journey” is the band's only Death Metal album, before they became an integral part of the Norwegian Black Metal scene. Although Darkthrone are famous for being the quintessential Black Metal band, they didn’t start out as such. No question about it, "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" is a remarkable album and an extremely influential.

5. Soulside Journey was Darkthrone's debut studio album after signing with Peaceville Records, following their cult Cromlech demo. It was recorded in at Sunlight Studios in Sweden with Tomas Skogsberg, notable for his work with Entombed & many other acts over the years.
